Vivatech: overview of the 17 start-ups from Aix-Marseille which are flying to Paris

The VivaTech show returns from May 22 to 25, 2024 at Porte de Versailles, Paris. Each year, this event allows tech start-ups to present their innovations, meet international buyers and participate in conferences. More than 150,000 visitors are expected, including 2,000 investors and 2,300 exhibiting start-ups, announce the organizers. The South region will be represented by 37 start-ups from its territory.

In 2024, VivaTech focuses on the theme “The Future is Now”, with the desire to highlight the impact of innovative technologies on current challenges such as climate change and inequalities. The South Region, partner of the event, has chosen artificial intelligence as Red string of its selection, by breaking down the 37 regional companies into six key areas: data and AI (9 start-ups), climate technology (9 start-ups), tourism and creative industries (6 start-ups) , sport and e-sport (4 start-ups), health (5 start-ups), and cybersecurity (4 start-ups).

The 17 startups of Aix-Marseille Provence

Among the 37 innovative start-ups in the region, 17 are located in Aix-Marseille. Overview of the representatives of “made in Provence” innovation at the VivaTech 2024 show…

Acwa Robotics. The company was created in Corsica in Bastia, by Jean-François Rossi in 2017, then joined by Jean-François Guiderdoni in 2018, René Amoretti and Raphaël Rossi. Now based in Aix-en-Provence, it develops robotic and digital solutions to help water services around the world map and assess the state of their network. At the start of 2024, Acwa Robotics announces an increase in its capital to 4.8 million euros, (see our article).

BikeExplo. Founded in 2020 by Sabrina Grassi, Soft Mobility propose BikeExplo, an innovative solution for cycle tourism. The application offers a library of secure cycling routes created by professionals, accessible without subscription via a unique code on a smartphone. The young company is based at the “HQ” of eco-actors, the coworking dedicated to the circular economy in Marseille, located 28 Allée Gambetta.

Biomitech. The startup is developing innovative bioreactors using microalgae to reduce polluting emissions from cities and industries, thus promoting the circular economy. Their Biourban solution and the High Impact Biofilter transform carbon dioxide into oxygen, improving indoor and outdoor air quality. BiomiTechfounded in Mexico in 2017, and based today in Aix-en-Provence, notably won a call for projects from the UN, concerning different sustainable development objectives and was selected by the CC35, the 35 capitals of South America who came together to guarantee the Paris agreements and decided to implement 200 BioUrban, the Bimitech solution, in their cities.

Centiloc. Centiloc is a startup based in Meyreuil, it offers an automatic inventory solution based on NFC geolocation. It allows businesses to digitize their in-store stocks for optimal management of restocking, and industries to have real-time inventory.

Centurio Esport. Centurio Esportsbased in Gardanne, is an agency specializing in audiovisual production and gaming and esports events.

Deki. The start-up based in Marseille, offers innovative digital solutions to optimize urban logistics, by offering SaaS services and APIs. Its technology, based on cutting-edge algorithms and real-time impact calculations, aims to help companies pool their resources and reduce their carbon footprint. These tools are easily integrated into any information system, thus offering a plug and play solution to improve urban delivery processes and promote the ecological transition of carriers.

Agreement. Agreement (Aix) has developed Pulse, a solution that transforms low heat (from 60 to 150°C) into electricity, promoting the decarbonization of industrial processes. This innovation is based on a new patented thermodynamic cycle, the Pulsed cycle, offering previously unattainable high yields.

Fylia. Based in Marseille and managed by Dorian Boatti, Luc Malfatti and Valentin Jeannest, the start-up has set itself the mission of connecting local artists and individuals for tailor-made artistic creations via an online platform. Users can choose the style, dimensions and artist near them to realize their ideas into unique works of art.

Indianov. The Marseille start-up Indianov, created in 2020, developed the Indie airbag belt, a 3-in-1 medical device aimed at extending the autonomy of elderly and at-risk people. This belt uses AI and sensors to detect falls, deploys an airbag to protect against femoral fractures, and automatically alerts caregivers. The innovation lies in the use of artificial intelligence for pre-detection of falls and the compact design of the belt, light and discreet. In addition, it is reusable after a fall, with a simple replacement of the gas generator and the folding of the airbag.

Nivotech. Nivotech (Aix) offers comprehensive environmental solutions using IoT (internet of things) and AI to optimize the use of water and energy. Its flagship product, Nivotech Power, monitors and analyzes the efficiency of heat pumps in the tertiary and industrial sectors. Using IoT sensors and dedicated AI, it enables optimization via a digital twin, providing performance indicators and malfunction alerts.

Reptik by Tamba Labs. Tamba Labs, a research laboratory based in Aix, uses biotechnologies to promote African plants traditionally used by healers, particularly in Senegal. Its product, Reptik, is 100% natural, environmentally friendly and suitable for everyone from the age of three months, assures the company, which promises a revolution in the fight against mosquitoes. Sakowin. Created in 2017, Sakowin is developing an innovative solution to produce hydrogen from methane, at a competitive price. Its technology is based on methane plasmalysis, a method of decomposing the molecule using low-energy plasma generated by microwaves. Despite a difficult context for risky projects like hydrogen, the start-up has just succeeded a fundraising of 4 million euros.

Tourism In. Based in Chateaurenard, Tourism In has set up an application for discovery and interaction with tourist sites. It offers geolocated routes and a personalized visit experience, combining augmented reality, history and local culture.

True Tourism. True Tourism (Marseille) presents a new approach to tourism in the Provencal region with its mobile application. It connects tourists and local residents for authentic and personalized tours, focused on each person’s interests. The application promotes respect for the environment, heritage and local residents.

V.RTU. V.RTU (Marseille) has set itself the mission of revolutionizing human-machine interaction by introducing the sense of touch into the digital world. Its innovation includes Haptify, a tool for adding haptic feedback to 3D and 2D applications, as well as V.RTACT, bracelets and rings offering a haptic experience in virtual and mixed reality.

Yapu-k & Co. The start-up (Allauch) offers vacation equipment rental for children aged 0 to 10, summer and winter, in the mountains or by the water. Its services are aimed at families on vacation and tourism professionals wishing to enrich their offer. Yapu-k & Co encourages peaceful vacations and more sustainable tourism.
