Faced with storms, Météo France places 14 French departments on orange alert for storms. According to the bulletin published at 6 a.m. by the weather forecasting organization, this vigilance will begin this Wednesday, May 1, 2024, late in the afternoon or in the evening depending on the department.
In details, Île-de-France, part of Grand-Est, Hauts-de-France and Burgundy will be affected. Marne, Yonne and Aube will go on orange alert from 5 p.m., Paris, Seine-Saint-Denis, Seine-et-Marne, Val-de-Marne, Essonne, Val-d’Oise , Yvelines and Hauts-de-Seine will be affected from 7 p.m. The last departments to join the alert will be Oise, Somme and Aisne from 9 p.m.
Marked electrical activity
These vigilances should be lifted overnight, according to the Météo France bulletin. The last departments concerned will be Oise, Somme, Marne and Aisne, with a return to yellow alert around 3 a.m..
According to Météo France, this stormy wave is “organized and intense”. In the departments placed on orange vigilance, storms promise to be virulent with high precipitation intensities, hail, squalls. Electrical activity will also be marked.
