the demolition of the house on rue du Pont d’Arcole in Beauvais is progressing well

After being secured more than a year ago, the house at number 42 rue du Pont d’Arcole in Beauvais (Oise) is being demolished since April 22 because it was in danger of collapsing. “We first purge the house to remove anything that is bulky before we can demolish”the site manager, Maxime Lebas, explained to us.

The workers first destroyed the frame, on the upper part, manually, “to then mechanically demolish the lower part”. If the demolition was not carried out immediately, it is in particular for security reasons.

“There was a good week of preparation, because the building is sandwiched between two other homes”, he explained. However, after carrying out an initial study last November, the workers assured that “this presents no risk to the surrounding residents”.

Demolition work will continue until Friday May 3. In the meantime, rue du Pont d’Arcole remains closed to traffic but pedestrians can still use the opposite sidewalk.
