The evening of this Friday September 27, 2024 was marked by two simultaneous fires in Gard. Around 9:30 p.m., firefighters had to intervene urgently at two different locations a few kilometers apart.
A chalet on fire in Vézénobres
In Vézénobres, a wooden chalet caught fire, threatening neighboring homes. Fortunately, thanks to the rapid response of firefighters, a second chalet located nearby was protected and spared from the flames.
No injuries were reported, but the occupants of the chalet had to be relocated. Three people affected by the incident were taken into care by the town hall.
A second fire on the A9 motorway
Barely a quarter of an hour later, the firefighters were called to another fire. This time, it was on the A9 motorway, near Fournès, that a fire broke out.
A vehicle caught fire on the emergency lane. Firefighters intervened in time to control the fire and limit its progression. In total, 300 m2 of bushes were burned, but the fire was contained before spreading further.
