The city of Colomiers has been mobilizing citizens for several years through the launch of a call for projects, supporting them through an innovative and creative mode of participation. This year it focuses on the theme of “the year of sport”. “Sport has a duty to set an example in terms of ecological transition,” explains Martine Berry-Sevennes, deputy mayor responsible for ecological transition, natural heritage and mobility. “We thus provide financial and technical support to projects that raise awareness, support and strengthen eco-responsibility among sports stakeholders, experienced or beginner athletes, citizens… The two projects supported this year are perfectly complementary to the city’s actions and demonstrate everyone’s commitment to the ecological transition.” These two selected projects were recognized as among the most innovative, the most exemplary and educational and those offering the most influence to the municipality. The first, “All by bike for our health and our planet” was proposed by the Alain-Savary Elementary School. Its aim is to introduce CE1-CE2 students to mountain biking and bicycle handling at the Colomiers Bikepark. This action is completed by an introduction to bicycle maintenance, led by a professional. The second, entitled “Making sport a lever for raising awareness of environmental issues and the circular economy”, was defended by the Hexeco association. It wishes to raise awareness of waste reduction, reuse and the circular economy, encourage eco-citizenship through sport, but also inform and empower citizens about global warming and its impact on sporting practice. Voluntary drop-off points for sporting and leisure items will be created as well as awareness-raising workshops for sports clubs. A big sports clearance sale will be created.
