Metropolis of Lyon. TCL controllers will no longer be able to wear pedestrian cameras, Bruno Bernard is annoyed

Since 2021, TCL agents have been equipped with pedestrian cameras. But it could end sooner than expected. This measure was put in place as part of an experiment provided for by law. But while it is about to end, the government has still not made it sustainable. From this 1is October, officers will no longer be able to wear them.

A “lack of anticipation and organization” on the part of the government according to Bruno Bernard, president of Sytral and the Métropole de (Les Ecologistes), who expressed his dissatisfaction on the social network X.

According to our information, the experiment, made possible thanks to the mobility orientation law, had been extended to cover the period of the Olympic Games. The current blockage is due to the political context and the instability of recent months.

“A certain apprehension”

According to Bruno Bernard, work stoppages by agents for safety reasons decreased by 32% and conflicts could be “defused in real time”. Bruno Bernard therefore asks the Minister of the Interior “to act immediately to prevent the cessation of the use of our pedestrian cameras”.

“It is a tool that is important for the protection of our agents and our customers,” said Nadir Ben Ali, territorial manager of controllers, interviewed by BFM Lyon. All our agents have been trained to use this tool, we use it in teaching. The stop sign hurts us, it’s a certain apprehension. »
