The police were surprised by their discovery during a rental eviction. They found 700 grams of 3-MMC, a derivative of cocaine, in social housing in the Cité de l’Espoir in (Seine-Saint-Denis).

It was 10 a.m. this Friday when the police entered the apartment occupied by a 27-year-old man. The man present in the accommodation is the subject of eviction proceedings for non-payment of his rent. On site, the police then came across several canisters of white powder containing several grams of 3-MMC. The tenant, unknown to the police, was arrested and taken into custody.

According to a police Source, the drugs were not only intended for his personal consumption. The judicial police took charge of the case in view of the large quantity of this synthetic drug. Fully named “3-methylmethcathinone,” this drug virtually mimics the effects of cocaine, MDMA/ecstasy and amphetamines. It provides a feeling of euphoria, power and reduces fatigue.

This addictive substance appeared in the 2010s. First consumed by men having sex with other men in order to increase pleasure, it now attracts more and more consumers at parties. It is increasingly used among 25-45 year olds. The French Observatory of Drugs and Addictive Tendencies describes the diffusion of 3-MMC as a “marking phenomenon”.
