The American allegedly tried to bypass a police checkpoint on the road leading to the Valhalla course in Louisville, where he was to play the second round of the PGA Championship.

World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler was arrested and handcuffed Friday morning when he allegedly tried to bypass a police checkpoint on his way to the Valhalla course in Louisville where he was scheduled to play the second round of the PGA Championship, according to American media.

Scheffler allegedly refused to stop at the request of a police officer who was regulating traffic around the golf club, where an accident that occurred before the player’s arrival had created a huge traffic jam, according to the same Source.

In a video posted on X by ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, Scheffler can be seen handcuffed behind his back and taken to be placed in the back of a police car.

In these images filmed before daybreak, police can be heard shouting at witnesses to back off, and an officer telling them “now he’s going to jail and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

The second round of the PGA Championship was delayed by an hour “due to the accident which occurred near the course and in which a pedestrian was killed by a bus”, announced the PGA citing the police.

In the first round on Thursday, Scheffler returned a card of 67, four shots under par, which placed him in 12th position, five shots behind leader Xander Schauffele.
