This pass has been brought forward to Monday April 29 in the Plaine de Saône sector, where the vegetation is more advanced at certain crossroads and the visibility of the markers is lower in certain bends. Mowing is the action which consists of reducing the height of the grass on departmental road outbuildings by mechanized or manual actions. Mowing along departmental roads meets 4 main objectives:

Contribute to the safety of road users by mowing the grass while preserving visibility at all points: bends, intersections, signaling and preventing the grass from overflowing onto the roadway, ensuring the proper functioning of hydraulic structures and tapping, limit the erosion of slopes, enhance the landscape with regular maintenance of road outbuildings, through the landscape and heritage diversity that the department offers, maintain ecological refuges through reasonable mowing and differentiated management of green outbuildings: common flora and protected, local fauna (insects, amphibians, small mammals, etc.), particularly in the heart of the Châtillonais National Forest Park and the Maillys ecological reserve.

“In total, the roadsides will be treated twice during the year and 235 agents are mobilized to operate and maintain the departmental roads,” recalls President Sauvadet.
