He continued on his way without even stopping, leaving his victim lying on the ground. The latter was expected to die from his injuries in the following minutes. A week after the tragedy of the D301 in Groslay, the fleeing driver was arrested by the police officers from Enghien-les-Bains in charge of the investigation, Wednesday September 25, 2024.

Aged 25, the young man, residing in Seine-Saint-Denis, was placed in prolonged police custody as part of proceedings opened for a fatal accident with a hit-and-run. Facts that could be reclassified as manslaughter.

A motorist witnessed the accident

It was a witness to the accident who raised the alert around 3 a.m. on the night of Tuesday September 17 to Wednesday September 18, 2024. To the police, the latter explained that he had saw the victim staggering in the middle of the D301. He then stopped on the shoulder to help him when he saw a vehicle arrive and hit the pedestrian, the motorist continuing his route towards without stopping.

When help arrived, the sixty-year-old was in cardio-respiratory arrest. Despite the care provided by the firefighters and the Samu 95 medical team, he died on the spot. A medico-legal obstacle was posed by the Samu doctor, the intervention having, moreover, required the closure of part of the D 301 to traffic for an hour and a half.

Having elements that can help them identify the driver’s vehicle, it is with the help of theexploitation of images recorded by video surveillance cameras that the police officers from the Enghien-les-Bains police station were able to identify the suspect. The latter was arrested at his workplace in Aulnay-sous-.
