From October 10 to 13, 2024, the Théâtre du Chatelet is hosting a brand new festival: Urban Châtelet ! For the first time, a festival dedicated to the hip-hop movement is taking place in this legendary theater in the 1st arrondissement. The festival Urban Châtelet begins on Thursday October 10 at 8 p.m. at the Théâtre du Châtelet with a show by the ExpéKa collective. Born from a meeting between the percussionist Sonny Troupé and the rapper Caseyat the festival Africolorten years ago, the collective is now inventing a new genre, linking Creole and rap.
On Friday October 11, the urban cultures festival, Urban Chateletputs in the spotlight Vicky R And The juice, two female rappers known for having participated in Queens, for the love of rap or five women to conquer French rap, in the show Proses, Volume I. Within the confines of Théâtre du Châtelet, the female rappers were invited by the pianist and composer Issam Krimito create a show combining classical music and rap.
