The Tunisian unit responsible for investigating terrorist crimes has opened a judicial investigation against Mohamed Mondher Zenaïdi, whose candidacy for the presidential elections was rejected by the electoral commission and who is now the subject of an arrest warrant. research.

The opening of this judicial investigation follows the publication, by Mondher Zenaïdi, of videos on a Facebook page bearing his name “to incite citizens to sedition and rebellion against the State and its institutions”, indicated the spokesperson for the Judicial Anti-Terrorism Unit, Hanene Gaddès, in a statement given to the official TAP news agency.

Ms. Gaddès estimated that the video sequences published could “sow chaos and terror in the ranks of citizens”, adding that the reasons for the open judicial investigation, with authorization from the prosecution at the Judicial Center for the Fight against Terrorism, are , among others, “constitution of a terrorist organization, incitement to join it, conspiracy against the internal and external security of the State and attack aimed at changing the form of government”.

Former minister, Mondher Zenaïdi (74 years old) ran for the presidential election on October 6, 2024. His candidacy was rejected by the Independent High Authority for the elections.
