MP Guy Marius Sagna, leader of the FRAPP movement, met the women fish processors of Bargny. Along with his comrades, he criticized the installation of “a coal-fired power station” between the places of activity of these women fish processors, the homes, an elementary school, a children’s hut, etc.

During a press briefing held last weekend, the women transformers of Khelcom denounced the attitude of a minority group of women who “blindly follow certain NGOs to criticize the Bargny power plant”. These women highlighted the good quality of cohabitation with the Centrale and the efforts made by the latter to resolve the few pollution problems.

They also recalled the countless social actions of the plant for the benefit of the women of Khelcom including the amount of 20 million offered this year during Ramadan and the previous year, specifying that if the plant has not yet built a modern infrastructure of transformation for them, it is because of ownership problems concerning land.

Because the Centrale had commissioned the feasibility study for the modernization of the Khelcom site but it was afterward that they learned that the site was assigned to the Turkish company Tosyali. The Centrale is currently looking for alternatives with the Mayor of Bargny so that the site returns to the women so that they can carry out their modernization project. The Bargny coal power plant today Bargny power plant is often the subject of false information from certain NGOs and small groups.
