SEG Solar and Grand Batang City sign land use agreement for Southeast Asia’s largest photovoltaic industrial park

HOUSTON, May 15, 2024 /CNW/ – On May 15, SEG Solar (SEG), a leading US producer of photovoltaic (PV) modules, and Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (Greater Batang City), the largest SOE industrial estate in Indonesia, held a signing ceremony to sign a land use agreement for the development and operation of a photovoltaic industrial park in Batang Regency, Java, Indonesia. The park is expected to include production and assembly plants for silicon ingots, wafers, cells and modules and will become the largest photovoltaic industrial park to date in Southeast Asia. Jun Zhugefounder and chief operating officer of SEG, and Ngurah WirawanPresident and City Manager of Grand Batang, attended the ceremony.

Located in Grand Batang City, Central Java Province, Indonesia, the SEG Indonesia Photovoltaic Industrial Park project will benefit from an investment of more than US$500 million and cover more than 40 hectares. The overall park plan includes a vertical integration capacity of 5 GW for silicon wafers, 5 GW for solar cells and 5 GW for modules. As part of the first phase of the project, SEG will construct facilities with a production capacity of 5 GW for solar cells and 3 GW for modules, with a planned completion date in the second quarter of 2025.

Cells produced in this park will supply SEG’s global module factory, ensuring supply chain traceability and ensuring the reliability and stability of the supply of basic materials for the modules.

Integrated planning across the entire industrial chain is essential for SEG to meet legally compliant supply chain standards. Through upstream and downstream coordination, SEG ensures the supply of clean, traceable green products for markets in the United States,Europe and Indonesia, thereby facilitating the global transition to low-carbon green energy.” said Jun Zhugefounder and chief operating officer of SEG.

SEG’s photovoltaic industrial park in Indonesia is expected to create more than 3,000 job opportunities, providing more employment prospects and economic vitality to the local community.
