A double anniversary day for Landes football – DISTRICT DES LANDES DE FOOTBALL

Traditionally organized on Ascension Thursday, the annual Landes football festival exceptionally stretched this season over 2 days. A first afternoon at the Argenté complex, home of Landes football, and an exceptional second day in the showcase of Mons rugby, the André and Guy Boniface stadium. Nearly 3,200 spectators vibrated with the chants of the supporters.

Clearly, this 90th anniversary will remain in the memories of Landes footballers. Wednesday May 8, Argenté regained its festive air for the 3 meetings on the afternoon program. A first opposition full of success between two adapted football teams: Morcenx and St-Paul les Dax. Lots of goals, fair play and a beautiful image of this shared football proposed by the Landes Committee of the French Adapted Sports Federation.

A good level women’s match followed between AS Mourenx bourg and Seignosse Capbreton Soustons FC, all within the framework of the 40/64 Cup final. The Landes won in the end ahead of a courageous Béarnaise team. Congratulations in any case to the two teams and their technical supervision.

The highlight of the afternoon, the final of the Coupe des Réserves Intermarché offered an unprecedented match between Biscarrosse and St-Geours de Maremne. In this meeting, it was the Biscarros people who quickly showed their advantage to open the score at the half-hour mark. Encouraged by a great cohort of supporters, the guys from St-Geours came back to score before the break. Nothing more will be scored in the second half and it is the penalty shootout which gives the winner. The Biscarros people showed themselves to be more skilful and won this increasingly popular Coupe des Landes des Réserves Intermarché for the first time in their history.

The next day, head to the André and Guy Boniface stadium for two highly anticipated finals. In a perfectly prepared enclosure, Lacajunte Tursan, accustomed to the event, found Laluque/Rion who made his first appearance at this stage of the event. The guys from Tursan were quick to make the difference in a meeting that they dominated against players from the Tarusate Country who were perhaps impressed but who never failed. With an accession to D1 acquired very recently and the Intersport Lasaosa Cup, Lacajunte/Tursan is having an extraordinary season in every way.

The 77th edition of the Coupe des Landes offered a Mons derby between Stade-Montois and its neighbor Etoile Sportive Montoise. Challengers, the Stellists played their luck bravely by opening the score very early in the match. Unfortunately for them, the experience of the yellow and black ended up paying off, especially in the second half. In the end, Yannick Soubieille’s partners allowed Stade-Montois to register its name for the 13th time on the winners list of the event.

The President of the Landes football District would like to send his warmest thanks to all the competitors, their supporters, the public who once again came in large numbers to these finals as well as all the volunteer and professional teams who ensured success of these demonstrations. A more special thank you to the town hall of Mont-de-Marsan and the Stade Montois Rugby Pro for their valuable support.
