WEATHER REPORT – The forecasts prompted organizers of several protests to cancel their events this weekend. Pronounced last November by this elected official before the Genolhac gendarmes who had summoned him as part of an investigation for harassment, they were the subject of a complaint. The simple hearing turned into police custody, the elected official pushed the envelope to the point of overturning the desk of a soldier… The public prosecutor demanded a six-month prison sentence with probationary suspension, the advisor finally sentenced to four months, a sentence accompanied in particular by an obligation of psychological care, a ban on coming into contact with the victim, and on possessing a weapon. But also the confiscation of the rifle and ammunition seized during the search of the defendant’s home.
In Pont-Saint-Esprit, we vote this Sunday
GARD – The 7,245 voters of Pont-Saint-Esprit are called to go to the polls for the first round of the comprehensive and community municipal by-election which takes place this Sunday. The eight polling stations will open at 8 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. The participation rate remains the big unknown in this election. Voters must choose between three lists: “Le Renouveau spiripontain” led by Emmanuel Le Pargneux, “Demain Pont-Saint-Esprit” led by Gérome Bouvier and “Pont d’Abord” led by Claire Lapeyronie, outgoing mayor. On each list there are 33 candidates for 33 seats to be filled on the municipal council of the Gard commune.

NIMES – It is the age of the Alzon Institute which is celebrating its anniversary. The alumni evening brought together hundreds of people at the establishment in Nîmes this Friday. The opportunity for its director Yvan Lachaud to announce that action is being taken to request the beatification of Emmanuel d’Alzon. A letter, which has since collected more than 700 signatures, was delivered this Saturday to Monseigneur Nicolas Brouwet, the Bishop of Nîmes.

PO – Last Monday, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau kicked off the second phase of the competition for the most beautiful market in France, organized by TF1, in partnership with Midi Libre and other titles from the regional press. The names of the 24 2024 regional champions were announced in the 1 p.m. newspaper. Nineteen of them are new.
