Swiss “Petit Futé” chooses Villa “Le Lac” on its cover

The Villa “Le Lac” Le Corbusier erases the cathedral of Lausanne

One of the best-known buildings in the canton of Vaud, Lausanne Cathedral no longer appears on the front page of the Swiss edition of “Petit Futé”. This popular French tourist guide was first released in 1976. It is present in many countries, including Switzerland, where the circulation is 40,000 copies. “We decide on the subjects of our covers six to nine months in advance and we make sure to alternate the subjects from one edition to the next,” says Stéphane Szeremeta, editorial director.

Those responsible for “Petit Futé” have nevertheless decided to continue to highlight Vaud, since it is the Villa “Le Lac” Le Corbusier in Corseaux which appears on the front cover. It could have been Chillon or the Rhine Falls, but no, it was the house built for his parents by the architect Chaux-de-Fonier, naturalized French, which was chosen.

“We market the cover visual following a certain number of editorial rules. This is what happened to Villa “Le Lac” Le Corbusier. This seemed all the more relevant to us as it is an original subject andthere was the 100th anniversary.” Below the image of the house, a sentence reminds us that the house is a hundred years old. It was built in 1923 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

“We were initially surprised when “Petit Futé” contacted us, and obviously honored. The guide has presented Villa “Le Lac” Le Corbusier every year for the past four years. But from there to being on the front page,” says Patrick Moser, curator of the place for a quarter of a century. He therefore hopes that this national and even international exhibition will produce spin-offs.

The space, managed by an association of the same name, with the support of the Municipality of Corseaux, can be visited every day of the year (by reservation on certain days and time slots).
