Former professor at Laval University, Patrick Provost

The professor of the department of microbiology-infectiology and immunology, Patrick Provost, is no longer employed by Laval University. He had, among other things, become known in the media for his comments questioning the use of messenger RNA vaccines against COVID-19 and had since accumulated suspensions from the university institution.
Laval University refrains from commenting further, claiming that the contents of an employee’s personal file are confidential
. She also does not confirm when the termination of employment occurred.
Patrick Provost was suspended from the University after publicly making his comments on messenger RNA vaccines. Colleagues then sent complaints against him to the management of the establishment.
Arbitration hearings are also underway in a case involving the professor. The next court date is scheduled for April 29.
More than once, a disciplinary committee, under the responsibility of the management of Laval University, had ruled that the professor had contravened the Policy on Responsible Conduct in Research. The professor appealed, denouncing what he described as censorship.
The professor’s case fueled debate at the same time as Laval University adopted its policy on academic freedom, to comply with Quebec’s Academic Freedom Act.
