what will change in May
Descriptive text here

As with the month of April, May will experience several changes. Personal training account, MaPrimeRénov’ or even the benchmark price of gas… We take stock of all the adjustments that await the French next month.

One of the major changes that will affect millions of employees concerns the personal training account (CPF). In fact, from May onwards, workers will have to put their hands in their pockets to finance their training. In order to enable the government to make savings, employees will therefore have to pay a flat rate contribution of 100 euros to finance training via the CPF.

However, it is necessary to clarify that no decree has yet been published. It is also important to emphasize that job seekers and employees, whose employer co-finances the training, are not affected by this flat-rate contribution.

Increase in “out-of-pocket costs” for consultations

Another change which comes into force from May 15: the increase of one euro in the fixed contribution during medical consultations. Thus, policyholders will have to pay 2 euros instead of 1 euro for a medical consultation, biological analysis, or radiology examination. This increase, which was initially scheduled to come into force in June, will be applied from May 15.

Important point: this fixed contribution cannot exceed 4 euros per day per doctor (50 euros per year). Please note, moreover, that children, people under the age of 18 as well as pregnant women are exempt from this measure.

Increase in the benchmark price of gas

From May 1, the benchmark price of gas will increase slightly. In its estimate for May, the CRE forecasts the new benchmark price per average kilowatt hour (kWh) of gas (including tax) in the Gaz Réseau Distribution zone at 0.11061 euros for cooking and hot water and 0.08940 euros for heating.

The increase will therefore amount to 0.00147 euros per kilowatt hour for cooking and hot water, and 0.00148 euros for heating. Consequently, this increase in the benchmark price should be reflected in consumers’ bills.

Those forgotten about the energy check will be able to claim in May

MaPrimeRénov’ will also see changes next month. Applicants for assistance by gesture will no longer be obliged to provide a DPE from May 15 until December 31, 2024 and “mono-gestures” will once again be eligible for MaPrimeRénov’.

It is also in May that many taxpayers will have to finalize their tax return, since the deadline will occur during this month in several departments. It is also in May that those forgotten about the 2024 energy check will have to turn to the online claims counter.
