Record attendance on Jura transport
Descriptive text here

Jura transport transported 9.2 million passengers in 2023, an attendance increase of 7.7% compared to 2022, already marked by a record. The number of Vagabond subscribers increased by 3.8% in one year. These positive figures demonstrate the efforts made by regional players to improve the attractiveness of the cantonal network and the growing involvement of businesses in mobility plans. from associative, sporting and cultural circles is also increasing.

In 2023, more than 25,000 people traveled daily on trains and buses operating in the canton of Jura. This represents, every day, 2,000 additional travelers compared to 2019, the last “full” year before Covid.

Public transport is a major player in sustainability and plays an essential role for the entire population: it contributes to reducing the carbon footprint by offering a more ecological alternative to the individual car while making it possible to relieve the burden on roads that are often overloaded at times. peak. Close collaboration between cantonal and municipal authorities and transport companies makes it possible to offer quality timetables and services, which today constitute a real alternative to the car, an offer that the Jura residents increasingly favor.

Attendance in detail and by company

SBB:
The CFF line between Delémont and Boncourt / Delle continues to be successful: the backbone around which the Jura public transport network is structured, it recorded 2.6 million passengers last year, or 280,000 more than in 2019 (+12.1%). More than 7,000 people took their places daily on board the S3 and RE trains which run every 30 minutes between Delémont and Porrentruy. The speed and comfort that this line offers particularly to commuters during rush hours are increasingly appreciated. Also noteworthy is the continued growth in ridership on the RE Bienne-Delémont line, which increased by another 15% in one year, having welcomed 1.3 million passengers in 2023, i.e. 3,500 daily travelers. .

CJ:
Compared to 2019, attendance on the Jura Railways railway lines increased by 1.6% in 2023. This means 1.5 million people traveled on the Franches-Montagnes and Ajoie lines. last year. This is rather encouraging considering the numerous renewal and modernization works on infrastructure and stations that have taken place in recent years and with which travelers have had to deal.

MOBIJU:
The inhabitants of the Delémont district are the Jura champions in bus attendance: 2.5 million trips were recorded in this region in 2023, which represents almost 2/3 of bus attendance throughout the cantonal perimeter. Attendance on the Ajoulotes and Clos du lines is also increasing to reach 877,000 travelers in 2023, thus returning to pre-Covid levels. Finally, in the Franches-Montagnes also the use of bus lines is still high, with more than 400,000 travelers recorded in 2023.

In total, MOBIJU lines transported 3.8 million passengers in 2023, or 700,000 additional passengers compared to 2019.

Still more Vagabond subscriptions
5,629 people held a Vagabond subscription as of January 1, 2024, an increase of 3.8% compared to 2023. With 1,679 subscribers recorded at the start of the year, the segment of adults aged 25 and over is the one which has the most progressed since the creation of the Jura tariff community in 2001.

A mobility offer for businesses
More and more employers are promoting sustainable mobility, thus acting as part of their social responsibility. Today, around thirty Jura companies help finance their employees’ JobAbo Vagabond subscription and thus encourage the use of public transport for travel between home and the workplace. The implementation of the cantonal administration’s mobility plan contributed to the strong increase in the number of JobAbo Vagabond holders in 2023: at the end of last year, nearly 200 state employees had a subscription of public transport and their number continues to grow at the start of 2024.

By encouraging their employees to use public transport, companies contribute to their decarbonization goals and solve parking problems, and also improve their attractiveness as employers. This success results from the numerous attractive incentive measures offered and awareness of the existing transport offer: timetables and prices. These combined efforts are bearing fruit.

Successful partnerships
More and more event organizers are calling on the public transport promotion unit, also in collaboration with Noctambus, to set up mobility plans and thus offer their visitors and participants the possibility of going to events and return by public transport. The advantages are numerous for the organizers, who notably reduce the problems linked to parking, as well as for the participants who benefit from alternatives to travel in complete safety, at times when the evening offer does not usually allow it. These collaborations, which have notably made it possible to serve numerous village festivals, Saint-Martin events or other regional events in 2023, are an opportunity for a new public to become familiar with public transport. Attendance at the additional services offered has been very successful. In 2023, the organizers of the Courses du Tabeillon also allowed more than 300 of their participants to travel to the race venue by public transport by using their registration as a transport ticket.

For their part, more and more HC Ajoie spectators prefer public transport on match evenings. In place for three seasons, the offer allowing match ticket holders to travel to Voyeboeuf by train and bus is still very popular: last season, more than 17,000 people took advantage of it.
