Record amount donated to the Cancer Research Society

On July 27, the campsite welcomed the president of the Cancer Research Society, Manon Pépin, during the 11th edition of the Dream Walk Day.

Collection of cans and bottles with deposits, auctions, hot dog dinner, walk, train rides with musical games and lantern evenings are some of the activities that have raised money for the cause throughout the summer.

This major fundraiser began in 2014 with a simple nighttime torchlight walk around the campground’s two lakes, which raised $3,800. Over the years, other activities have been added, increasing the amount raised year after year. Today, Dream Walk Day is the largest community-organized event for the Cancer Research Society in Canada; more than $213,000 has been raised since its inception!

The event involves teamwork by the members of the organizing committee, volunteers (children, teens and adults), sponsors, the owners of the campsite, Yves and Claude Gingras, as well as the entire Gingras family, not to mention the collaboration offered by the Cancer Research Society to orchestrate it all. Many seasonal campers, traveling campers, visitors and residents of the campsite’s modular home park also demonstrate great generosity for the cause, throughout the summer.

The lantern evening in tribute to the fighters, survivors and the deceased took place on July 28.

The goal for the 12th edition in 2025 is to raise more than $52,000.
