Solidarity doctors: making the medical desert flourish again

Solidarity doctors: making the medical desert flourish again
Descriptive text here

Every week, a new doctor arrives in your town and so that he can practice his profession in the best conditions, he will see 25 patients per day and work 42 hours during the week. Around a hundred doctors are currently working in the first three centers and more than 300 are on the waiting list, ready to commit while waiting for the next centers to open.

These supportive doctors come from the four corners of , they are replacements, independent, active, employed, retired, etc. 50 weeks of permanence are provided out of the 52 that make up a year. THE explanations bring smiles back to the inhabitants, in the village hall of Chantenay-Saint-Imbert, and open up perspectives for the town.

Sympathetic and jovial, Martial Jardel captivates the public; his argument is well rehearsed, it hits the mark, the residents are won over. After this presentation, the questions complete the explanations and reinforce the viability of the project. A resident gets excited : “You are the doctors of the heart, like the Restos du coeur, you do humanitarian work. »

The same enthusiasm is felt among elected officials, particularly among Joel Dubois, “lucky to be the first municipality in Nièvre to benefit from this project. »Fabien Bazin, president of the Departmental Council, also welcomed this opportunity for the region: “Health is a major issue, it is a subject of concern that concerns everyone. 17,000 of our fellow citizens are without a treating doctor, despite the investment of local stakeholders to remedy this problem and a strong mobilization of the Departmental Council, whose competence this is not. This action reinforces one of my priorities. The community works on a daily basis to facilitate access to care, notably with the Santé Nièvre pour tous project. Since 2016, scholarships for medical students have enabled 18 doctors to settle in our territory. There are also departmental health centers which pay health professionals… The Médecins solidaires association completes what we are trying to put in place. »

PIn order for the project to take shape and be able to open by summer, two coordinators still need to be recruited, one full-time and the other part-time. Until these two positions are filled, no precise date will be communicated. A precaution so as not to disappoint residents if recruitment is a little long.
