There Learning Festival Geneva took place on Tuesday evening at the Arena in Grand-Saconnex. The concert hall was as full of people as it was filled with the joy and pride of the 2024 vocational training graduates in the canton. Emotions widely shared by their loved ones as well.

At the official graduation ceremony, 3,130 young people and adults received their titles (2,661 CFC and 469 AFP) in 135 different professions. The overall success rate reached 84.4% this year. The best success rate this year is recorded in the Arts polewith 91.7%

A result deemed satisfactory by the representatives of the authorities concerned, among whom Anne Hiltpold, State Councilor in charge of Department of Public Education, Training and Youth (DIP)and Gilles Miserez, general director of theOffice for guidance, professional and continuing training (OFPC).

The Fête de l’apprentissage was perhaps living its last edition there. Anne Hiltpold confirmed to us that the event “needs to be rethought so that everyone can be highlighted according to their merits”. The magistrate explained to us that “a tripartite working group is currently working on the subject”. It must submit proposals “in a few weeks”.

According to our information, in the long term, either the ceremony would be maintained as is (a single day and place for all graduates of the vocational training), or it would be eliminated and replaced by different smaller celebrations organized in each of the seven vocational training centers (CFP) of the canton (one party per training center).

“A decision should be made by the end of the calendar year,” Anne Hiltpold tells us. To be continued.
