The mayor of Pontcharra (Isère), Christophe Borg died this Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Aged 55, he became mayor of this commune of Grésivaudan in 2014 and was serving his second term.

The elected official was also a departmental councilor for the canton of Haut-Grésivaudan since 2021. “It is with shock and deep emotion that the Department has just learned of the death of Christophe Borg,” the Departmental Council said in Grenoble news.

Tributes from the political class

Very quickly, the elected officials of the Grenoble basin wanted to pay tribute to Christophe Borg. “Very involved in the missions entrusted to him, committed to his files, he was keen to deserve the trust granted by the people of Isère,” wrote the Isère Department in a press release.

For his part, the President of the Department, Jean-Pierre Barbier, praised “a man of conviction and competence”.

Christophe Borg, born in Moselle, arrived in the town of more than 7,000 inhabitants in 1991 before becoming its mayor.
