Drome – Portes-lès- – A new sports course inaugurated at the Aragon park

Born from the idea and conviction of a middle school student, a member of the young municipal council, a course made up of several sports apparatuses will allow all Portois to play sport.

On Wednesday, September 4, a sports course was inaugurated in the heart of Aragon Park. The project owes its origins to Nolan Belver, a 14-year-old middle school student and member of the young municipal council (CMJ), convinced of the need to create a small sports apparatus course that could be used by all Porto residents. On the advice of elected officials, the members of the CMJ then submitted an application in March 2023 to the departmental participatory budget, intended to promote initiatives in the Drôme region. The project was initially validated by the departmental council before being submitted to a vote by Internet users. It obtained the 9e place on 131 submitted projects. The year 2024 was the opportunity for the CMJ to see the project come to fruition and to choose – with partners including the MJC – a suitable location and the type of modules requested.

This sports course completes the existing set: children’s swings, beach volleyball court, chess table and latest generation skate park that have found their place in this large park. Among the six modules, some are adapted for people with reduced mobility. Each module is equipped with a QR code, where a virtual coach presents exercises adapted to age and intensity.
