This Wednesday, April 17, the Departmental Council unveils the final route of the Olympic Flame Relay in the 7 Haut-Garonnaise municipalities crossed on Friday, May 17.

The Olympic Torch Relay route will pass through 400 cities for more than two months. Haute-Garonne will constitute the 9th stage of this route through . This major international sporting event is organized with the support of the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne, stage community of the Torch Relay, labeled “Terre de Jeux 2024”.

In Haute-Garonne, the 7 routes defined by 2024, in close collaboration with the Department, will cross the following municipalities:

1. Revel – 3 km – 9 a.m. > 9:45 a.m.

Departure: Vocational high school / Arrival: Allées Charles de Gaulle

2. Villemur-sur-Tarn – 1 km – 9:55 a.m. > 10:15 a.m.

Departure: Town Hall / Arrival: Stade Vélodrome

3. – 2.5 km – 11:45 a.m. > 12:20 p.m.

Departure: Marcel Calmes municipal stadium / Arrival: Allée Niel

4. Rieux-Volvestre – 1.5 km – 12:50 p.m. > 1:20 p.m.

Departure: Sainte-Marie Cathedral / Arrival: Ehpad L’Orée du

5. – 4.3 km – 2:50 p.m. > 3:55 p.m.

Departure: Capitany sports complex / Arrival: Place des fête

6. Bagnères-de-Luchon – 1.2 km – 5 p.m. > 5:20 p.m.

Departure: Thermal park / Arrival: Place Gabriel Rouy

7. – 9 km – 5:30 p.m. > 7:20 p.m. (lighting of the cauldron at 7:30 p.m.):

Departure: Allées Charles de Fitte (interior square Saint-Cyprien) / Passage in front of the Departmental Council (boulevard de la Marquette) / Arrival: Stade Ernest Wallon

The Flame Relay is a unique opportunity to highlight the richness and diversity of the department, crossing heritage and emblematic sites in Haut-Garonne, such as the Halle de Revel, one of the largest in France with its 79 oak pillars, the vineyards of Frontonnais, the Gothic cathedral La Nativité-de-Marie of Rieux-Volvestre dating from the 14th century, the forest of Bouconne at the gates of Colomiers, the Pyrenees chain, the Thermes de Luchon, the Place du Capitole and the Saint-Sernin Basilica in Toulouse, or the Stade Toulousain and the Airbus factories, jewels of the French aeronautical industry.

This route extends throughout the territory, alternating between small towns or medium-sized towns, urban areas with high population density and mountain areas, in order to allow as many people as possible from Haut-Garonnaises and Haut-Garonnais to participate. to this major sporting event.
