Terrible drama in the center of Paris. The firefighters were alerted during the night from Monday to Tuesday, shortly after 4 a.m., for a fire on Boulevard des Italians (2nd arrondissement) on the 6th and 7th floor of a building. According to an initial report communicated by the district mayor, Ariel Weil, present on site, three people died.
“The stairwell leading to this room on the top floor of the building was on fire. The firefighters were only able to access it later and discover these three people trapped with bars on the windows. The firefighters carried out rescues from the roofs,” says the elected official, who evokes a very particular and difficult intervention.
According to the first elements of the investigation, it could be a fire following a gas leak. This Tuesday morning, many emergency resources were still on site. According to our information, the Paris police chief, Laurent Nunez is due to go to the scene in the coming minutes.
