Since the end of January, several acts of violence, rapes and sexual assaults have been committed in Grenoble and its surroundings.
At least nine incidents have been recorded against young women.
This Tuesday, a precise description of the suspect, nicknamed “the man with the scooter”, was released.
No composite portrait has been released for the moment, but the report given this Tuesday March 26 by the Grenoble public prosecutor Éric Vaillant, corresponding to the testimonies given by the victims, is precise to say the least: the individual is aged around twenty years old, of European type, has no accent, he measures around 1.70m and is of normal build, even slightly “replent”He has brown eyes, a pale complexion and rather red hair.
This description is that of a young adult wanted for several weeks now by the police and suspected of being a serial rapist. Nicknamed “the man with the scooter” due to the means of transport he has used until now to travel, the latter is said to have committed at least four acts of violence, two sexual assaults and three rapes against young women residing in Isère.
Victims aged 20 to 27
The local Grenoble judicial police service has been investigating this growing affair for several weeks. According to the prosecutor’s details, the acts which were committed in the city center of Grenoble, but also in several municipalities in its conurbation, namely Saint-Martin-d’Hères and Saint-Martin-Le-Vinoux, to the detriment of young women aged 20 to 27, between January 22 and March 16.
THE modus operandi is always the same: “the attacker, alone, dressed in black, mounted on a black scooter, spots his victims and follows them before attacking them”, explains the magistrate. “The magistrates of the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office and all the Grenoble police officers are strongly mobilized on this investigation”, underlines Éric Vaillant.
