A new bloody image for Robert Eggers’ horror vampire film

Nosferatuthe vampire film by Robert Eggers, reveals itself a little more with a striking image of Lily-Rose Depp covered in blood.

THE Dracula from the 30s, those of Hammer, that of Coppola, the Nosferatu Werner Herzog and Murnau, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Twilight…the figure of the vampire has been a source of inspiration in cinema and series for over a century, for better or for worse, and it’s not about to stop. Indeed, Robert Eggers, after The Witch, The Lighthouse et The Northman decided to revisit the famous Nosferatu in its own way.

Even though his remake of Nosferatu has had a very complicated production, the film is finally close to hitting theaters (nearly 10 years after Eggers started the project). Described as a “gothic tale of obsession, love, fear and seduction,” Nosferatu has revealed itself in a terrifying trailer that has already given a small idea of Eggers’ version. And this time, it’s through a new image that sends shivers down your spine that the film continues its promotion.

The Claws of the Night

Nosferatue

In this new image (visible below), we see Lily-Rose Depp with blood coming out in large quantities from her mouth and eyes. Of course, this new image doesn’t tell us much, although we can guess a few clues about the scene it depicts. Since Lily-Rose Depp plays Ellen Hutter, the photo is probably taken from the moment when Ellen gets bitten and becomes a vampire herself.

This remains a possibility and we are not immune to the fact that Robert Eggers has decided to completely change the story to fully revisit the myth. In any case, as in Murnau’s film, the young notary clerk Thomas Hutter (played here by Nicholas Hoult) will surely have to mourn his wife Ellen (again) and fight Count Orlok (played by Bill Skarsgård), who lives across the street from them.

Death Throat

Bill Skarsgård, in fact, had given these elements during an interview Esquire with regards to the treatment of Nosferatu in the film:

“He’s filthy. But it’s all very sexualized. The film plays on the sexual obsession around the power of the monster and what it does to the viewer. Hopefully, the viewer will be both a little attracted to him and at the same time repulsed by that attraction.”

If all this makes your mouth water (or blood) blood, you will have to wait a little longer, as the film is planned not for Halloween but… for Christmas, December 25tha slightly surprising choice. And vampire fans will also be served with Dracula : A Love Tale by Luc Besson, whose filming is almost finished, with only a few shots remaining in the fall in the Jura. The film will be set in Paris as the hundredth anniversary of the French Revolution approaches and should also talk a lot about love. Release this time scheduled for 2025.
