NETFLIX – President Blé enters the Elysée Palace, and things are going to move. The Netflix comedy series returns this Thursday, August 29 on the platform. In season 2 of In Placethe neighborhood animator played by Jean-Pascal Zadi Stéphane Blé, takes office as President of the Republic. Between strong nods to political and social news, and an abracadabrantesque scenario, this new batch of episodes turns out to be delightful.

Remember, at the end of season 1 of the series, the improbable presidential candidate was elected, ahead of Corine Douanier, the environmentalist candidate played by Marina Foïs. In the new episodes, he will have to prove himself at the Élysée. The series – created by the actor himself and François Uzan – imagined, unsurprisingly, a totally fantasized taking up of office. And radically the opposite of the image that the presidency can give off from the (real) Palace.

The Wheat-Style Presidency

In disorder and without revealing anything to subscribers, we can thus have a lot of fun. On the one hand, seeing President Blé designate his prime minister during his own investiture ceremony, then change her, again, without consulting anyone. The same thing happens when he discovers overnight in the council of ministers the team of ministers she unilaterally decided to surround herself with. Or when they act to ” eliminate nuclear power and the military ” after a few arguments exchanged, which the president validates, totally uninterested.

The Blé-Zadi-style presidency does everything very quickly, too quickly, due to lack of experience, amateurism and ignorance of the system of the Fifth Republic. Without taking into account the temporal imperatives inherent in voting on laws, for example, and the role of elected officials. But also in total disregard for the rules that govern the security of the President and his entourage. These are not the only comic exaggerations in the series. And we’ll let you enjoy them.

In Place tease reality

More In Place Season 2 is not lacking in spice either concerning reality. If season 1 was a well-felt parody, the second goes even further. It directly echoes the politically charged news of recent months. A particularly virulent far-right elected official played by Pierre-Emmanuel Barré, an environmentalist candidate pushed towards the highest echelons of power, the return of an ambitious and unshakeable mayor, or even the tensions crystallized in Overseas, the economic crisis and inflation attest to this.

In Place remains above all a (very) offbeat comedy, and the new episodes do not miss the mark. Stéphane Blé (Jean-Pascal Zadi) is even more overwhelmed by events than before. His advisor William Crozon (Éric Judor) has lost none of his cheekiness. The former secondary roles (Benoît Poelvoorde, Panayotis Pascot, Marina Foïs, Fary, Fadily Camara) hold their own. And the new characters add a significant dose of flavor, notably Alain Chabat as the former president and Raphaël Quenard as the heir to a family of slave traders.

If the political news of recent months has not lacked twists, that of the series In Place no more. But it also has the benefit of being really, really funny.
