Iron Maiden Not Planning New Album Right Now, Says Steve Harris

For Iron Maiden fans eagerly awaiting a new album, bassist Steve Harris has some news: there are no plans for a new album at the moment. In a recent interview with Australian podcast Everblack, Harris confirmed that the legendary heavy metal band are not currently working on a new album. However, he did leave the door open for future possibilities, stating: “There is nothing in the works at the moment. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be any. [de nouvel album].”

The band’s latest album, Senjutsu, released in September 2021, marked Iron Maiden’s first studio project in six years and was met with critical acclaim. Recorded in Paris with longtime producer Kevin Shirley, the album features epic samurai-themed cover art and several tracks that exceed ten minutes in length. The album was a huge success, peaking at number three on the Billboard 200 in the US and topping the charts in several European countries.

Harris acknowledged that singer Bruce Dickinson has been busy with his solo tour, promoting his latest project, The Mandrake Project. “Bruce just did his solo tour, so he spent a lot of time on that.“, Harris explains, adding that this has left the band with little time to focus on new material. Despite this, he does not rule out the possibility of releasing a new album at some point, saying: “Maybe we will find time to insert [un nouvel album] somewhere. You never know.”

Looking ahead, Harris has a busy schedule, touring with both Iron Maiden and his side project British Lion until Christmas. “I’m on tour for the next four months until Christmas, so I don’t really know what we’re going to do after that. I guess we’ll probably take a break from Maiden for a little while.”he said.
