Blaise Desailly, 21 years old from Rennes, died in the afternoon of Friday August 18, 2023, while diving into the body of water of the old Laillé quarry, 25 km south of Rennes (Ille-et- Ugly).
The young man made his acting debut in the Breton capital. Thomas Jolly, theater director, had retained him in his Richard IIIcreated at the National Theater of Brittany, in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), in 2015.
Blaise Desailly had “13 or 14 years old. He played the character of the nephew of Richard III, which I interpreted myself. He was such a bright, happy child. The show, a rock opera, was then performed at the Théâtre de l’Odéon, in Paris, in January and February 2016, then on tour.

Blaise Desailly was known for his passion for sport too. A lover of thrills, he liked to challenge himself. Friday August 18, he would have made a dive of about twenty meters. The Rennes prosecutor’s office indicated that “according to the first elements (which remain to be confirmed), he was seized with convulsions and struck branches before falling into the water and remaining submerged”. His autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
