Christine and the Queens at the Festival d’été de Québec, it will be for a next time. The French star has canceled his three concerts scheduled in Quebec over the next week.

Christine and the Queens were scheduled to take the stage at the Montreal International Jazz Festival on July 8 and 9, and at Parc de la Francophonie in Quebec City on July 11.

“It is with disappointment that we confirm the cancellation of the Christine and the Queens show. Its scheduled visit to Quebec will be postponed to a later date,” said FEQ communications director Samantha McKinley.

The reason for his withdrawal has not been disclosed, but in the past few days, Redcar, singer of Christine and the Queens, said he was a victim of transphobia on social networks. He complained about people using the wrong first name for him.

“I am a human in society, who seeks to find his truth, who has never felt like a woman since he was born, who spoke about it from his first album in his songs”, said the artist on TikTok .

In a message published Thursday, his record label Because came to his defense.

“Following the wave of transphobic and outrageous remarks that artist Christine and the Queens has been facing for a few days on social networks and in certain media, Because Music wishes to express its unwavering support for her. Nothing justifies this campaign of hatred and violence. This also applies to all the people and communities who are hurt by these repeated attacks. »

The Festival d’été will announce as soon as possible the new program for the evening of next Tuesday at the Parc de la Francophonie. Les Louanges, Claudia Bouvette, Ghostly Kisses and Hyd are also on the schedule that night.
