But neither was born on the right side of history to achieve this. Martin Eden the sailor from Oakland, hero of Jack London’s novel as Edène, a young black woman, his theater double. It was Alice Zeniter who had the idea of ​​adapting the novel on stage and transforming the hero into a heroine well anchored in the 21st century.

Under his pen, Edène works in the laundry of a slaughterhouse. She is surrounded by colleagues, all women, and only has eyes for Rose, from whom everything separates her: education, culture, social class. A piece carried by the energy of its performers.
