“When they saw the marquee in their playground, the children were amazed. » Since Saturday January 11, 2025, the Breizh malo circus Company, from the Saint-Malo region (Ille-et-Vilaine), has set up shop at the Saint-Joseph Saint-Rémi school complex in Tinchebray (Orne).
As part of their Course of Studystudents from the small section to CM 2 are introduced to the world of the circus. “The initiation takes place over two weeks, with 100 students at a time under the big top,” explains Nadine Durand, director of the Saint-Joseph school, this Tuesday January 21, 2025.
Children as acrobats, tightrope walkers, jugglers
In a record time of three and a half days, each group of students prepares a show alongside the circus team led by Jessy Gayet. “There was a first representation Friday, and the second will take place this Friday, January 27, in the presence of 350 people,” continues the director.
Their family installed in the stands, the children will continue circus acts. “With the five artists of the company, they do the little acrobats, the tightrope walkers, the aerial circle, the rings, the juggling, the stage expression with the clowns,” says Nadine Durand.
This coming of the circus is a true human adventure. It is a very daring project which requires a lot of organization for the school.
