The future director was first in charge of 18th century paintings and pastels at the National Museum of the Palace of , from 2007 to 2013, before joining the Graphic Arts department of the Louvre Museum.
Since 2019, she has been the director – first as deputy then as interim director – of the department of studies and research at the National Institute of History (INHA). She has also curated exhibitions, including that of the inaugural exhibition at the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

“Her energy, her great scientific rigor, the attention she pays to social and ecological issues and the great sensitivity she expresses towards all audiences convinced the jury that Juliette Trey was the ideal person to face the challenges awaiting the Fabre Museum in the coming years: celebration of the bicentenary, expansion of the museum, reinvention of the relationship with the public, affirmation of the museum’s place in the field of research and dialogue between researchers and visitors”explains the municipality in its press release.

Juliette Trey therefore succeeds Michel Hilaire, who has held his position as director of the museum since 1992 and will retire in April.
