the essential
For three years, the Nérac school campus has offered cinema workshops on Wednesday afternoons. Around twenty students participate. They are presenting four short films this Thursday evening in Nérac.
With Anna Cazenave Cambet and Marine Malika Plazaz, Nérac can be proud of having seen beautiful ambassadors of the seventh art grow up. Like regularly welcoming the actor Vincent Lindon. Within the walls of the school campus, the next generation is preparing…
For three years now, a cinema workshop has been offered to students, from 4th to 1st grade, every Wednesday afternoon. They are led by Pierre-Yves Dassonneville, French teacher, and Johan Cassagen, physics and chemistry teacher. “We benefit from the regular collaboration of our plastic arts colleague Eric Dufour for the sets of our short films,” they specify.

17 students are following the lessons of this cinema workshop this year. “They carry out different exercises ranging from writing a script to sound recording, including editing. Even if today most prefer to be in front of the camera,” smiles Pierre-Yves Dassonneville.
At the end of the school year, with their acquired knowledge, they are able to present several short films that they have entirely designed. Usually, they are presented before summer at the Le Margot cinema. But, under construction at that time in 2024, this screening evening has been postponed to this Thursday, January 23, 8 p.m.

Four productions, each followed by their making-of, will be projected in the Neracian dark room: “Misunderstood”, an exercise at the start of the year with different production constraints; “Folie Sonore”, done as part of an author residency for comic book author Frédéric Bézian; “Road serenity”, in stop motion, following a request from the prefecture, with the participation of the actress Julie Gayet and the musician Sylvain Reverte and the Nerac professor Laure Criton; “Cannes Project”, the end of year project.
Several students complete this workshop with one dedicated to theater, which allows them to express themselves more easily in front of the camera. “Frankly, every year, we have nice surprises,” applaud their teachers. Thanks to various aids, the Neracais school workshop gradually acquired equipment. Latest: a green background which allows you to work on an original project in this 2024/2025 school year (to be discovered at the end of the year).
Behind the scenes
The two teachers from Nerac appreciate the involvement that their students put in these demanding projects, despite the other requests on Wednesday afternoon… Each screening at the cinema commands the admiration of the spectators. “These are the students who also created the posters for the films, which are available on DVD and Blu-Ray.”
These workshops will perhaps give rise to vocations among young Neracais. Recently, one of the students in the group joined Aiguillon high school to take advantage of its Audiovisual Cinema option.
