The Rocket announced late Monday that the young forward would have to be absent for a period of four to six weeks due to an injury.

The club’s management did not want to provide details about this injury, but Roy had fallen heavily against the boards during a game in Utica Friday evening. He was not able to take part in the next day’s match in Laval, against the same Comets.

This bad news comes at a very bad time for Roy, who had two goals and an assist in his last five games. After taking part in four games earlier this season with the Canadian, the 21-year-old was undoubtedly hoping for a recall, but such a decision, if it ever comes, will have to wait.

Roy was initially cut at the Canadiens’ training camp earlier this season, and was not recalled by the team until late November. He was sold to the Rocket again in early December when another attacker, Patrik Laine, was preparing his return to the Montreal team.

In 33 games in the American League this season, Joshua Roy had 14 goals and 13 assists for a total of 27 points. In 23 games with the Canadian last season, he was able to amass 4 goals and 5 assists, for a total of 9 points during the season. He was a fifth-round pick by the Canadiens in the 2021 draft.

This is not the only bad luck in the Rocket camp. Also on Monday, the club announced that defender William Trudeau, also injured, would have to be absent for a period of one to two weeks.
