The branch of Restos du Cœur de Vire is once again calling on generosity of the public to continue its actions to help people in need.

“As usual, entry is free, but the public is invited to bring food and hygiene products,” explains Sonja Jambin, member of the Les Virées ’Halle association.

Volunteers from Restos du Cœur will be responsible for collecting them before the start of the show

What foods to give?

THE canned vegetablescooked dishes and fish, but also rice, pasta, lentils, coffee, sugar, jam, oil. Or again, maintenance products : dishwashing liquid, household cleaner, paper towels or hygiene products such as: soap, shampoo, razor, shaving cream, toothpaste and toothbrush.

“In general, it’s around 300 kg of goods which are harvested. Let’s do even better this year! » says Sonja Jambin.

2,400 meals distributed each week

“To date, we have recorded 228 familiesand new registrations continue to arrive every week,” declares Nicole Sicot, head of the Vire branch. She continues by detailing:

We welcome 116 single people; 61 couples; 40 single-parent families and 120 children, aged from 1 month to 10 years. A total of 2,400 meals are distributed each week

Attention to early childhood

Last year, Restos du Cœur were forced to lower the eligibility criteria for food aid due to inflation on food products and the increase in the number of people helped. “This year, we are returning to a distribution close to normal,” confirms Nicole Sicot. However, particular attention is paid in early childhood, to provide a balanced diet.

Particularly concerned are children aged 0 to 3 years, for whom we provide milk, small pots but also fruits, vegetables and dairy products.

Programming

“It’s about varying musical genres in order to meet the expectations of the diversity of the public,” explains Manuela Göller, member of the Les Virées Music’Halle association.

The aim of the association is to allow local artists to perform on quality stages, such as at La Halle. And to carry out a great deed by supporting the charity

The “Punky Brewster” choir

A “just local” Pop Choir from the Ateliers Musicaux de la Souleuvre. With around twenty singers, around Naouel conducting and Juliette on piano for a trendy French pop rock soul repertoire.

Alain Revet

Singer-songwriter Alain Revet will perform original songs, including Presidentiallythe title of his latest CD.

And especially covers of Dalida, Édith Piaf, Joe Dassin, Alain Souchon, which the public will be able to cover with us

Mojo Shaker

Mojo Shaker is an English blues rock group from Normandy, formed barely 2 years ago. Who performs original songs, in English, written by Shaun Green on guitar and John Baines on vocals. They are accompanied by Peter Roycroft on keyboards, Vincent Wulveryck on bass and Vincent Bossut. Covers of ZZ Top and Deep Purple.

Sunday January 19, 2025, at 3 p.m., at La Halle-Michel Drucker, concert given for the benefit of the Restos du coeur de Vire Normandie, on the initiative of the Les Virées Music’Halle association. The public is invited to bring food and hygiene products.
