Saturday January 18, 2025the Micro-Folie of Sablé-sur-Sarthe (Sarthe) will project The Little Anti-Scam Brigade (1980-1989)a mini-series carried out by the Sabolian troupe The capricious marquis.
Interview with Philippe Bardin, founder of the amateur theater company and screenwriter.
The Capricious Marquis is a theater troupe. How did you come up with the idea of making a mini-series?
“We found the idea of getting into video by making small films interesting. We opted for this reduced format because it is popular with festivals and streaming platforms.
The project matured in February 2024, and filming began in the spring. In total, 14 episodes were produced, which are all mini-skits. »
What is the Little Anti-Scam Brigade?
“A brigade specializing in fraud cases and tracking down counterfeiters and fraudsters, at the time of the 80s.
A pure fiction, in which the comic is omnipresent and where recurring characters – the team of inspectors – and new faces meet at the police station. »
Why set the action in the 80s?
“For the diversity and poetry of business, which no longer exist today since almost all scams take place on the internet.
The idea is also to link the small stories with the big ones, by referring to significant or unusual events, such as the election of François Mitterrand or the passage of Mylène Farmer to Mayenne with the Europe 1 podium! »
Is each episode independent?
“Yes, and it was not an easy exercise to build a plot in a time limited to 5 or 6 minutes. Every time there are new victims, new scammers who enter the scene.
The production was carried out by one of the members of the troupe, Christopher Magiron, who did considerable work. »
A troupe born with high school students
The Marquis Capricieux troupe, based in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, was born in 1995, under the leadership of Philippe Bardin, then leader of the theater workshop at the Raphaël-Elizé high school. The troupe now has eight actors. Students and young professionals (whose ages are between 20 and 35), mostly from the high school workshop. The happy band rehearses in the old Gambetta school, in Sablé.
Do you intend to make a season 2?
“Yes, and the idea would be to associate, with the troupe of eight actors from the Marquis Capricieux, unknown people, residents of Sablé motivated by the project. We will launch an appeal in this direction. »
In the meantime, where can we see season 1?
“After the preview on January 18 at Micro-Folie, we will present our mini-series at short film festivals.
It will also participate in competitions on streaming platforms and, secondly, it will be shared on social networks. »
On the theater side, what are the troupe’s projects?
“We are preparing a play inspired by the universe of our mini-series, this time with a single plot. »
