Before telling you more about the upcoming events at Lieu Unique, let’s take a quick overview of this ultra cool phenomenon what is voguing.
Born in the 1960s In New York’s African-American and Latino communities, voguing originally sought to parody elite white beauty pageants, with mannered poses and exaggerated postures. These are precisely these poses, like on the covers of the magazine Voguewho gave the name to the movement: voguing.
More than a dance: it is a real form of resistance to discrimination, a space of freedom where everyone can express themselves and shine.
Old way, New way et Vogue Femvoguing comes in several styles. The goal? Captivate, impress, provoke, with dance, fashion and performance. In the ballsthe dancers compete according to their category. And everything is allowed: rhinestones, heels, attitudes and above all… self-confidence!
Workshop, ballroom and after ball on Saturday January 25, 2025 at Lieu Unique
As part of the Trajectoires festival, a beautiful spotlight on voguing is offered by the Lieu Unique this Saturday January 25 ! On the program, a voguing workshop, a special Denim Ball and a huge after ball.
And for this occasion, the legendary Vinii Revlon will be there! A true icon of the Ballroom Scene, he is today one of the most influential ambassadors of this culture. He shone on international stages, but also on television, where he helped make voguing more accessible to the general public.
Thanks to his workshop gratuit on Saturday January 25, you can learn about the different categories with Vinii Revlon, before joining the catwalk to parade in front of the jury and the public during the Ball!
