“Peace is not an impossible dream. At the heart of war, women work tirelessly to make it happen.” Along with Israeli activists, Palestinian women opened the SatYam Homeland center in the occupied West Bank, near Jericho.
“As a Palestinian who lived through war, I meet mothers who have lost their children, families forever shattered by violence, and communities grappling with trauma that spans generations,” says Mai Shahin, Palestinian one of its founders.
In their workshops, they consider non-violence as a “powerful tool for transformation”. These sessions are “collective acts of reappropriation of our story,” she explains.
Valentine Sergo, Geneva author and director, who visited the site, is organizing a support evening this Thursday, during which Mai Shahin will present the project and answer questions by video. The evening will be punctuated with readings and musical moments, a free aperitif and a hat provided.
Thursday 4, 7 p.m., at the Bol, common room at 8 rue Lissignol, Geneva.
