Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire. The ABC of the tuba by Fanny Meteier. Twenty-three schoolchildren from Anne-Sophie Guérin’s CM1 class from the Franc-Nohain school group met Fanny Meteier, a great specialist in all-round Music, nicknamed the Marianne of jazz with her famous tuba.
This renowned tubist, after a master’s degree at the National Superior Conservatory of Music (CNSM), played in several symphonic groups. But Fanny had jazz under her skin. She joined Frédéric Maurin’s National Jazz Orchestra. Fanny is an instrumentalist, but not only that, she instills her knowledge through numerous master classes.
The meeting with the young Cosnois was beneficial. Jean-Yves Chir had already instilled the rudiments of music with “hand-made” instruments, as well as some movements allowing him to direct the orchestra.
Fanny broadened the range of possibilities by having the children work on rhythm, as well as breathing exercises.
-Then the highlight of the afternoon was the artist’s demonstration.
The event lasted an hour and a half, then Fanny spoke at the end of the afternoon with the students of the Cosnoise music school.
