the essential
After completing a year synonymous with peak attendance, the CGR team from Montauban, in Tarn-et-Garonne, is approaching 2025 with one hell of a fishing experience. Favorites, sequels, creations: this is what awaits spectators.
It is a unique performance in the world from which Montauban cannot escape. While in the rest of the planet, cinemas are struggling to return to pre-covid attendance rates, France is riding an upward wave with, according to statistics from the National Center for Cinema and Animated Images (CNC) , a million additional entries. In Tarn-et-Garonne, the CGR group, at the head of the Aussonne and Paris multiplex, delivered 366,000 tickets last year, or 1% more than in 2023. “We take them with pleasure ! The best part is that French cinema attracted the most with 44% of the share while American films made 36.7%. We haven’t seen this since 2008! “, rejoices Christelle Nolot, director of the department’s two CGRs, alongside her assistant, Abdel El Fallaki.
Here as elsewhere, “A little thing in addition”, by and with Artus, is in pole position. In Montauban, “The Count of Monte Cristo”, with Pierre Niney, placed third and “L’amour ouf” between Adèle Exarchopoulos and François Civil was seventh. “We have proposals that hold up more and more, with, in particular, comedies that come out of nowhere that express true things, with real scenarios that touch us. Without forgetting achievements which are more than up to the standard of certain blockbusters”, salutes Christelle Nolot who broke a national record with the preview of “Never without my psychiatrist”, presented by Baptiste Lecaplain on November 19.
The return of Tuch, Avatar or Jurassic World
At a time when 2025 is already getting off to an auspicious start, the director delivers her favorites of the year.
“On ira” (in preview on February 12). “It’s a dramatic comedy that addresses the difficult subject of the end of life. It’s a film that grabbed me by the guts but which is not tearful. It just shows that death can be different. That’s also what cinema is: getting messages across. » “Superman”, July 9 (Ice). “I’m a huge fan and this trailer really excited me. I’m not really a Marvel fan because I need to be able to identify a single hero with a real story. And there it is. » “Betterman”, January 22 (Ice). “It’s the Robbie Williams biopic. Coming from the boy band generation and having listened to Take That, I can’t wait! Especially in Ice, it’s going to be very nice. » “28 years later”, June 18. “After two first opuses, director Danny Boyle returns with this third horror film which still underlies a critique of society. I love it. »
For the rest of the agenda, we will have to count on “God save the Tuch”, February 5; “Captain America,” February 12; “Bridget Jones: Crazy About Him,” February 12; “Mickey 17”, March 5 (Ice); “Lilo and Stitch,” May 21 (Ice); “Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning”, May 21 (Ice); “Dragons”, June 11 (Ice); “Elio”, June 18 (Ice); “Jurassic World – Renaissance”, July 2 (Ice); “Fantastic 4,” July 23; “Michael”, October 1 (Ice); “Kaamelott: Second Vole”, October 22; “Elusive 3”, November 12 (Ice); and “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” December 17 (Ice).
“It’s a very promising year,” analyze Christelle Nolot and Abdel El Fallaki. We are going to have a lot of creations and sequels which are highly anticipated. »
