Radiohead is very, very well ranked.
The ranking raises questions.
Rolling Stone magazine recently published its list highly anticipated of the 250 best albums of the 21st century. Although dominated by pop and hip-hop artists, the list pays homage to several rock and metal icons:
-
“Toxicity” de System Of A Down, à la 159e place
-
Deftones’ “White Pony”, rising to #107
-
Mastodon’s “Leviathan”, ranking 171
-
Converge’s “Jane Doe”, ranked 192nd
-
“Rated R” de Queens Of The Stone Age, à la 214e place
We also find “American Idiot,” Green Day’s album, which reached No. 68; “Radiohead’s In Rainbows” ranks 55th; David Bowie’s “Blackstar” ranks 24th; “Is This It by the Strokes” is at #10; and finally “Kid A” by Radiohead peaks at 2nd placee.
As with any ranking, Rolling Stone’s selection sparked strong reactions within the rock community. Some fans welcomed the inclusion of rock and metal artists, while others expressed disappointment in the limited representation of these genres.
