XALIMANEWS–Sixteen Senegalese films appear in the official selection of the 29? edition of the Ouagadougou Pan-African Cinema and Television Festival (Fespaco). Among them, the feature-length fiction film entitled “Demba”, directed by Mamadou Dia, was selected, according to the announcement made this Friday by the organizers.
“Demba” is the only Senegalese film to compete for the Yennenga Gold Standard, Fespaco’s most prestigious distinction. The 2025 edition of this festival will take place from February 22 to February 1?? March** in Ouagadougou.
As a reminder, during the previous edition in 2023, Senegal was represented by eight films in various categories. This year, the Senegalese presence is expanding with a total of sixteen selected works.
The Ouagadougou Pan-African Film and Television Festival (Fespaco) is the largest film festival in Africa. Created in **1969** and held every two years in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, it aims to promote and highlight African and diaspora film productions.
