Under the aegis of the Association Le Grand Atlas de Marrakech (AGA) chaired by Professor Mohamed Knidiri, the Hmitti Association for culture and artistic creation, in partnership with the Event-art culture company and the urban commune of Marrakech and Les Etoiles de Jamaâ El Fna, organizes the 2nd edition of the Les Nuits de Chaabana Festival, on February 15.
On the program, the stars of Gnaoua art: Othmane Hmitti known as Hmitti One, visionary guardian of the Gnaoua tradition and talented master of Guenbri, true ambassador of Moroccan Tagnaouite culture who embodies the renewal between the traditional and the contemporary of this ancestral art on the various national and international stages. Younes El Hadir who has performed in numerous classical and fusion music concerts in Morocco, Dubai, Poland and France. Without forgetting the icon of the Gnawa Show and the FNAP: El Maalem Mustapha Baqbo who is a pioneer and precursor for having created Gnawa fusions with world music. Finally the Issawa Group (Youssef Sridi Group) rooted in the different traditions of the Issawa brotherhood.
This 2nd edition is a true celebration of national cultural wealth and a tribute to the sacred month of Chaabane which brings together each year artists, artisans, thinkers and audiences around the sharing, exchange and transmission of this style ancestral musical, imbued with so much spirituality and captivating rhythm which has for centuries found an ancestral “Afro” resonance which is currently universal, immersive where Moroccan traditions are mixed with contemporary musical expressions.
It is an artistic conception which is based on the promotion of Moroccan cultural heritage in general and that of the preservation and promotion of Gnawi art in particular.
Mid-Chaabana Nights arise from a Sufi consciousness which wants this night in particular to be dedicated to different worships, such as prayer, evocations (dhikr), recitation of the Koran. It is an honorable and honored night during which it is recommended to watch and fast for the following day.
