An eternal perfectionist and stickler for details, Claude François tries to straighten a wall light in his bathroom while he takes a bath in his Parisian apartment. In contact with the partially exposed electrical wires, his fingers remained stuck to the copper: he was electrocuted on March 11, 1978. A true phenomenon during his lifetime, the interpreter of That year sees its myth further reinforced by its spectacular disappearance. Restored to bring in light, the apartment was modified after the artist’s death. Kitchen and bathroom have been moved to create a pleasant living space that is more open to the outside.

On the advice of his friend and icon Brigitte Bardot, Claude François bought a second home in 1964 a few kilometers from Paris, looking for a calm and spacious haven of peace, in which he could live a simple life and spend time with his children. He acquired the Moulin de Dannemois, a grandiose residence of 500 square meters nestled in a sumptuous 3 hectare park, near a river, in the hollow of a green oasis.
The luxurious country house welcomes the family of Claude François, his partner Isabelle Forêt and their two boys, Claude François Junior and Marc François. Nestled in the heart of a small village in Essonne, the 12th century mill underwent more than 9 years of work to become what the artist called his “ happiness farm “. The large residence which welcomed Sheila, Johnny Hallyday, France Gall and Dalida inspired Claude François to write one of the greatest classics in his repertoire, the title “ As per usual “. Surrounded by waterfalls, an XXL swimming pool and a private nightclub, the extravagantly furnished property reflects the singer’s character, combining rustic charm and modernism. The artist described this peaceful place as a “ haven of peace with its birds, its greenery, its old stones, its pure air ”, before adding “ that’s where I forget my worries, that’s where I recharge my batteries ».
