Among journalists, artists and other protagonists of the Tunisian cultural scene, many of them took part in the press conference held today at the Cité de la culture in Tunis by the steering committee of the 10th edition of the Carthage Musical Days.

It was a question of detailing the program already revealed on social networks and of talking about the new features and other particularities of this new edition of the festival which will be held from January 18 to 24, 2025.

Hend Mokrani, general director of the National Establishment for the Promotion of Festivals and Cultural and Artistic Events (Enpfmca), recalled the foundations of this festival launched in 2015, dedicated to innovative musical creation in all its forms in Tunisia, in Africa and the Arab world. She discussed the main points of this edition, highlighting the return of street shows (JMC street), the confirmation and maintenance of new sections like the JMC Market and JMC Vr. Thanks to this latest technology, concerts are accessible beyond the capital by rendering concerts filmed in 360° in VR, she explains.

Dorasaf Hamdani, director of the festival since its 8th edition, also underlined the particular identity of the event which, more than a festival, is, as she says, an “artistic fair” and a platform for promotion and support for young artists and other groups who just need a good opportunity to shine. “The festival brought together several artists such as the group Yuma, Amel Mathlouthi, Sabry Mosbeh and others who have shone on international stages,” she says.

Imed Alibi, artistic advisor for this edition, spoke about artistic choices by presenting the main sections of the festival, namely the showcases which are live previews of 40 minutes maximum, of new projects. “We received many quality applications, of which we selected 18,” he announced in this regard. The concerts which promise great musical discoveries this year, as well as the JMC Pro section.

Fewer borders this year since the selection includes, in addition to Arab and African countries, regions of the Mediterranean. “Our ambition is to go beyond symbolic and political boundaries to build meaningful artistic collaborations, capable of giving voice to shared realities and opening new perspectives,” he notes.
