“This is our 19th move”: Jean-Pascal and Joëlle settle permanently in Loudéac

Jean-Pascal and Joëlle Le Prévost moved to Loudéac in November 2024 and it was their… 19th move! “It’s the last one, we’ll stop there,” they laugh in unison. We often joke that afterwards it will be the retirement home. »

If the couple has moved around a lot it is because Jean-Pascal Le Prévost has, under his belt, an 18-year career as a boatswain in the French Navy. “We’ve been everywhere: Tahiti, Nouméa, …”, he explains. Back in civilian life, he worked for 25 years as a manager in an adapted company

based in Cestas (33). “I was in the same company and, previously, at the CCAS in Biscarrosse in the Landes,” explains Joëlle, his wife.

In the center of

In 2021, the duo moved to Vernoux-en-Gâtine (79) before settling down (permanently) in Brittany, the region where they are from and where they still have ties. Finding their new “home sweet home” wasn’t easy. “Already, there was no rental so we came several weekends then a whole week. We were looking in Côtes-d’Armor and the last visit to Loudéac was the right one,” they say.

Why this municipality? “It’s a small town that we spotted without really knowing it, but which is ideally located in the center of Brittany,” they continue. Other criteria came into play such as the healthcare offer, the commercial offer… “In Vernoux-en-Gâtine, we had to drive 45 minutes to access the shops. We didn’t want to go through that again. Today, we can walk to the city center, that’s nice,” they communicate. A city which has assets according to them. They cite: the swimming pool, the Palais des Congrès et de la Culture, the Sound Mill…

Volunteers ready to get involved

Two newcomers who are ready to get involved in local community life. “I was a volunteer at the Restos du coeur in Deux-Sèvres and my wish is to continue volunteering at the Restaurants or elsewhere,” emphasizes Joëlle Le Prévost. Her husband is an amateur musician and has already found a new group in Plouguenast. “It’s above all for the pleasure of playing,” he emphasizes.

Jean-Pascal and Joëlle Le Prévost absolutely do not regret their choice of installation. The reception was good. “We like Loudéac and we are 1 hour from everywhere,” appreciates the couple.
